Ep22: Meditation basics and the way it helps me navigate anxiety and grief
I used to think meditation was too out there. It was not a part of my self-care or mental health toolbox at all.
But then...I needed more tools to help me manage my anxiety. I read a lot about the science of meditation and realize there is data to support the benefits of this tradition that has been around for centuries.
I started meditating. Very sporadically and very clumsily. I didn't think I was "doing it right". I tried transcendental meditation, guided meditation, mindfulness meditation, and breathing meditation. As I found what worked for me, I became more astounded by the trickle-down effect of my meditation practice.
Meditation has enabled me to work through anxiety, but it has also had a stunning effect on my ability to be very present, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, for some of the biggest events of my life.
