P.S. We Expire with Morgan Motsinger
The P.S. We Expire podcast centers around one big question: This life is short, so why are we waiting? Why are we waiting to… start a business we can’t stop dreaming about? leave a career, relationship, or religion that is unfulfilling? create habits that carry us through hard times? choose to have a loving relationship with ourselves? Welcome. I’m Morgan. I’m an entrepreneur, mother, speaker, and mayhem-maker. I learned first-hand how challenging it is to navigate unexpected and painful circumstances. When my daughter was diagnosed with an incurable, degenerative disease at age 3, I learned quickly what was most important in life. I explored psychology, spirituality, philosophy and healing. For the last 11+ years, I have learned tools and methods for mindfulness and resilience, and I share them on this podcast. When she died in December of 2022, I realized how important these mindset tools really are. We all want more fulfilled lives, but that can only happen when we have honest conversations and authentic connections. Let’s have these conversations together here on the P.S. We Expire podcast.

Changing how we talk to ourselves may be the most important skill we can possibly develop. We are often unaware of the internal dialogue that shapes how we behave and what we believe is possible.
In this episode, I'm sharing 4 phrases that we can stop using immediately to improve our outlook. I'm also talking about how we implement change.
1) I'm trying
2) I shouldn't/should
3) I can't
4) I don't have time

What is the cost of connecting in a digital world? More and more research is showing the difficulties of connecting online. In a time when we feel more able than ever to communicate with others, we have an epidemic of loneliness and disconnection. Why is that?
In this episode, Dr. Nick Morgan shares his findings on why digital communication is so difficult and what the consequences are of taking our personal and professional relationships online.
Dr. Nick Morgan is one of America’s top communication speakers, theorists, and coaches. A passionate teacher, he is committed to helping people find clarity in their thinking and ideas – and then delivering them with panache. He has been commissioned by Fortune 50 companies to write for many CEOs and presidents. He has coached people to give Congressional testimony, appear in the media, and deliver unforgettable TED talks. And he has himself spoken, led conferences, and moderated panels at venues around the world. During the last election cycle, he provided expert commentary on the presidential debates for CNN. His latest book is Can You Hear Me?, on the perils of virtual communication, published by Harvard in 2018.

There are two ways to talk about body image:
1) the reality (what the scale or tape measure says, what size clothing we wear)
2) what we believe about the reality (weighing XXlbs is bad)
The stories we tell ourselves about our physical reality will make the biggest difference in how we view ourselves. There is no perfect weight. There is no perfect body. People who seem to be at the perfect size may still have crippling self-loathing.
How do we address this? Today I'm sharing mindset shifts that impact how we relate to our bodies. Thanks for joining me for this episode of the P.S. We Expire podcast. I'm so glad you're here.

I recently went on a camping/hiking/backpacking excursion in the mountains of Oregon. I learned a lot from the experience of pooping outside in a hole, swarms of mosquitos, and hours of hiking with a 50-pound pack. I also learned a lot about asking for help, taking a break from technology, connecting with new people, and laughing so hard my sides hurt.
Today I'm sharing 4 lessons from my 4-day adventure. It turns out hiking and camping are terrific metaphors for some great life lessons. Thanks for joining me.

Do you want to become more confident?
The first thing you need to ask yourself: "Why?"
My guess is that most of us want to become more confident because we want to stop feeling the discomfort that comes with doing hard things. Embarrassment, sweaty hands, flushed face, cotton mouth.
So how do we actually cultivate confidence? Sharing this insight in today's episode:
1) gain clarity on your values
2) pay attention to and adjust your internal dialogue
3) keep commitments to yourself
4) do big things in small doses
5) learn to accept whatever feelings come

What comes to mind when you hear the word psychedelic?
A few years ago, I became familiar with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which really changed the way I viewed my circumstances. I started to recognize the power of my thoughts over my emotions and became more introspective and self-aware. Then I started to wonder, "What's going on beneath the surface? What about all the parts of my mind I don't have access to in my waking hours?" This lead me to learn about the placebo effect, the subconscious mind, NLP, and psychedelics.
In June, I attended the Psychedelic Science Conference in Denver, CO, and I learned even more about the power of these medicines to treat PTSD, end-of-life demoralization and fear, anxiety, depression, OCD, and much more.
On this episode, I'm sharing what I have learned over the last few years about psychedelics, the risks, benefits, and what I believe is the best formula for having a life-changing experience.

We're told that our worth comes from what we're able to do in the world. But what about those who aren't able to contribute in any "meaningful" way?
My daughter, who was completely dependent on others for every aspect of her care, taught me an unbelievable truth about intrinsic worth. She taught me that we are not valuable because of what we can do, but because of who we are at our core.
Join me for this conversation about how to flip what the world says is successful on its head and start living a more fulfilled life.

Sobriety, self-love, and soulful wisdom are all topics we touch on in this conversation. Erin is incredibly successful and has a big vision for her life driven by divine purpose. She works with business leaders to bring conscious awareness to their companies. When business leaders come into awareness of how their business structure, policies, and work environments affect not only their employees, but their suppliers, employee families, and their very lives, they come to Erin for help bringing everything into alignment.
In this episode, we do talk about societal and corporate structures, but we talk mainly about the personal journey to healing and wholeness. Each company is made up of individual humans. Each political party is adhered to by people with complicated patterns, dysfunction, hurts, and a need for healing. We only heal groups by healing as individuals.
Thanks for joining me for this episode. You can learn all about Erin on her website https://www.erinpatten.com.

I've been a mother for 15 years. I've weathered the pregnancies and births of 3 children (and one miscarriage), and the death of my oldest when she was 14.
I have learned many lessons over the years, and although I have many more to learn, I've compiled a list of 5 Myths that have shaped how I view motherhood.
I love being a mom. It is the hardest and best thing I've ever done. Motherhood has shaped me and changed me, and not always in ways I expected.
